Distributions & Software
This is probably the place to look if you are not sure what category the distribution you want falls under.
Examples of distributions in this section are Mandrake and Sorcerer.
This category is not for the faint of heart. These are recommended
for the Linux enthusiest with ample experience installing and
configuring Linux.
Examples of distributions in this section are Gentoo and Sorcerer.
These are great for beginners who just want to test drive Linux with
very little work. Also in this section are recovery and "show-off"
distributions.
Examples of distributions in this section are Knoppix and MuLinux.
Housed here are distributions created specifically to do a certain
task like function as a router, firewall, webserver, and so on.
Examples of distributions in this section are K12-LTSP and Trustix.
These are software sets to be used in your new Linux distribution. Items range from general purpose to server oriented sets.
Examples of software sets in this section are OpenOffice and Linux Essentials.
BSD is not Linux, but they are similar in many respects. BSD is a
great alternative for the avid Linux user, and excellent for server use.
Examples of distributions in this section are FreeBSD and DragonflyBSD.
